How one mom relieved muscle pain with Neem

The Neem Queen on Aug 22nd 2016

A typical Saturday in our household consists of “sleeping in” until 7am, getting our coffee, feeding the kids, cleaning the kitchen from the night before and then getting dressed and ready for the day by 8am. If we don’t have soccer games or a cross country race scheduled, we will all be outside catching up on yard work, pool cleaning, taking a quick cannon ball in the pool or whatever else doesn’t get done during the week. Needless to say we are exhausted and sore by 6pm and wishing we had someone to make dinner and change the sheets we forgot to do earlier in the day.

This Saturday though our air conditioning went out, not good timing considering this is the peak of summer in Florida! The high that day was 94 degrees and HUMID. Instead of calling for an emergency air conditioning visit we decided to set up camp in the living room, set up the pull out couch and create a wind tunnel with all our fans. We would have a fun old fashioned camp out with the kids.

Our sweet Lab cooling off in the fan.

Fun right? An experience and character building moment and bonding time right? It was all of that and then some…. the reason I have the time to write this is because the pull out couch I remembered so fondly from years past did a number on my neck. I’ve been couch bound, applying heat, icy hot, taking ib prophren to no avail. Which then reminded me, why not use my neem?

And that’s just what I did. To help relax and soothe my muscle pain, I decided what I needed was to take nice hot neem bath. Neem leaves have been used for years to help in getting rid of skin problems like blackheads, pigmentation, dullness and aging, thus leaving the skin with a youthful glow. The anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties of neem also helps moisturizes skin, clears acne, tones skin and has also assists in clearing rosacea, jock itch, athletes foot, cracking skin and other skin infections. Neem leaves moisturize the skin in keeping it supple and soft. They are effective for lightening scars and pigmentation caused by acne and scabies. This can even be used to treat minor wounds.

I happened to have some Neem Tub Tea bags for when my son gets into poison ivy, these Neem Tea Tub bags have a mix of Neem Leaves and Neem Leaf powder. It comes in a reusable bag so I can refill with either whole neem leaves or tea cut neem leaves and neem leaf powder and save money. When I am done with the bath, I actually take the used leaves and put them in the garden as an insect repellent and fertilizer.

Since I love the smell of lavender I used some Dr Teal’s Lavender Pure Epsom Salt Foaming bath to  add another level of amazing to my few minutes of quiet time. You can add any other essential oils you have handy to your neem tea bath to create your own personal spa.

After having the most amazing, neem and lavender bubble bath, kid free and listening to some classical music I felt rejuvenated. I finished off the "spa" evening with a quick rub down with my Neem Pain Cream on my neck and spine. Not quite ready to take on the world and start back up with my TRX and gym classes but felt much more relaxed, loose and ready for bed….with air conditioning.

Directions on how to make a Neem Tea Tub Bath are easy.

Drop your tea bag or tea ball into a warm bath and let steep for 5-10 minutes, or until the bath water has changed color very slightly. Keep in mind that the first use will be the most potent, but you can reuse each tea bag for 2 or 3 baths and still reap the benefits.

If you don’t have the Neem Tub Tea Bags, use whole neem leaves or tea cut neem leaves in a reusable bag so they don’t make a huge mess of your tub.
