Like many start up business, All About Neem was a company that started as a personal mission to find a natural way to improve specific health ailments that were affecting our family. It has increasingly evolved from selling a few products to creating an entire line of Neem health and beauty products. While our main focus has been on human health, it’s also important to note that Neem can be used for your pets! Why wouldn’t we want to treat our loving pets with the same level of care and attention as we do ourselves?

Dog owners who tried neem oil or neem products rave about the impressive and immediate effect of neem on the health of the dogs. Customers have shared their stories of how they have used neem oil to keep fleas, ticks, mange mites and other pests away as well as using neem bark powder which improves digestive and immune health.

How to use Neem for pets

Many folks have asked us how we use Neem on dogs and we are excited to share that there are several easy ways to incorporate Neem in your routine. Neem Oil, Neem Bark Powder, Neem Leaf Powder and Neem Oil Shampoo are most popular and easy to find and use. (plus you can use all the products on yourself as well!) The most basic and general way to use neem for your dog is to give your dog a regular wash with neem shampoo and occasionally supplement its food with neem leaf. Neem oil shampoo for dogs keeps fleas, ticks, mange mites and any other annoying biting insects away, and generally promotes a shiny coat and healthy problem free skin.

Neem Oil for skin problems

To protect my dogs, I dab spots of neem oil on behind their ears, top of their head, on their shoulders and flanks, and on their tails. During mosquito season, I do this every two to three days. I also give my dogs one capsule each of neem “supercritical extract” supplement, mixed with their food twice weekly, to arm them from the inside out.

For dogs who have itchy skin due to food allergies, insect bites, mild mange or really dry patches, neem oil works wonders. It is also good for hot feet and chaffed 'underarms'. The oil has anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, antiseptic and anti inflammatory qualities and is widely used on humans and animals by those who prefer to use Ayurvedic treatments.

Neem Oil for Mosquitoes and bugs

Starting now and through the summer months, I’ll be keep a bottle of neem oil bug spray by my bedside to arm my dogs and myself against biting mosquitoes. Neem is a biopesticide; applied topically, it doesn’t just repel mosquitoes (and fleas, too): It kills them — naturally. It has absolutely no harmful side effects.

Because the neem is absorbed into the bloodstream via the skin, your dog becomes repellent to the stingers. Mosquitoes seem to know that neem spells death, so they hate the very smell of it. Have you smelled Neem Oil? But most grow accustomed to that singular scent and even find it strangely comforting — that’s how grateful many are for all the good it does.

How to make a Neem Spray for Dogs

To make a handy spray, you mix 10 parts water with 1 part neem oil and a few drops of detergent (to make oil and water mix). Only make up one day's worth at a time because the neem breaks down in this mixture. Shake well - the solution will probably need to warm up to pass through the spray nozzle smoothly as it hardens when cool. Use this to apply oil quickly to your dog.

How to make Neem Shampoo for dogs

If you aren’t ready to buy neem oil shampoo for your pets, you can always make it yourself and it’s EASY! Just mix neem oil into your normal dog shampoo at a rate of 1 to 5 ml for every 100 ml of shampoo. Use less if your dog does not have any problems, and more if it does.

Neem Bark Powder and Neem Leaf Powder for Pets

Neem Bark Powder provides digestive & immune support for pets. Taken internally, neem can assist the immune system and provide antioxidants to help maintain normal DNA. Neem bark promotes the body's innate resistance to pathogens, supporting a healthy immune system in all animals.

Neem leaf powder is also a powerful herbal supplement that strengthens the immune system in general, supports liver function, purifies the blood and may eliminate intestinal parasites. Considering that most dogs eat commercial dog food, such a herbal supplement is a good idea.

Neem Bark Powder and Neem Leaf Powder can be purchased individually or you can use Neem Leaf Capsules by breaking it open and sprinkling on their food.
